Like someone is interested.... lol!

Wow I can't imagine that I will be reaching this milestone.  For 5 years its been a blessed for everyone who watches me and comments on my work.  So thanks again people.  DA is a wonderful site for creative people meet.  I will upload some new pages also... coz its been a busy year for me and a lots of new projects coming in.

Its been a while since I uploaded a new artwork here on DA.  Due to my work sked and different projects coming.  So now I start to put at least 4 new pages of my latest work.  Plus I just finishing doing coloring on the booked called "Savage County".  Which is a new MTV suspense TV show.  If you are not familiar with it here's the [link] I can't put the artwork yet maybe after the show starts.

So anyway thanks for dropping by and for watching me.  

Well I want to thank everyone who attended this year MCC plus meet new faces and a fan alike.  Also thanks for those who greet me and signed their comics.  Plus the last minute sketches that I done.  Anyway I hope next year will be a bigger and better event for everyone.

We would want to thanks Powerbooks and Ms. Gwen for arranging the event for us.  And those bunch of people in Cebu who are really great and talented artist. Plus gave us a copy of their indy book "Super Debil Robot Comics" thanks guys!  Plus we meet new faces and beautiful people of Cebu.  And their Cebu Lechon was the best!  And also we would thanks Mr. Francis Sy and his family for the beach hopping.

Plus I will also upload some pre-sketches that I did for the event.  Most of this are free for every purchase of the book.  So anyway back to the real world for me and time to work.

Hi there again...

Thanks for everyone who came to KOMIKON Summer De Avance last Saturday and bought our book "Renaissance - Ang Muling Pagsilang".  Plus guys and gals who did came up to the stage and signed there copy.  Plus met new faces and old ones again in this industry.

It will be a busy month again for me... I got two jobs in coloring, a new set of inking commission and an upcoming inking project also.

I will be attending this year Komikon Summer De Avance on April 17, 2010 10am to 8pm, at UP Bahay ng Alumni, UP Diliman.  So I will be at the booth of Renaissance.  I will be doing signing and sketching for everyone.

September 23, 2009, Typhoon Ketsana (Ondoy) brought its trail of destruction.

Over 6 Billion Pesos ($143M USD) in agricultural damages, 4 Billion Pesos ($93M USD) in infrastructure. Lives and jobs were lost, homes devastated. And until now, the aftermath can still be felt in the country. Four days later, Typhoon Parma (Pepeng), another super typhoon, struck the Philippines. Leaving in its wake damages leading up to Php19 Million ($417 USD). Php 29 Billion ($613 Million USD) in lives and properties claimed by the two typhoons in just the span of a week.

On February 21, 2010, 60 top Filipino artists in the fields of Comics, Animation and Graphic Design from around the world launched the art book RENAISSANCE: ANG MULING PAGSILANG. The publication aims to raise a significant amount of money to help the cities and families recover from the disaster. Exclusive original art from the book will be auctioned, with proceeds going to the Red Cross. We hope to invite you all to participate in this charity auction to continue rehabilitating properties and lives. Details on how to help are below.

Well that how that title goes... I feel that I lose my favorite toy or a friend.  Most of my files are there from comics files, artwork, jobs, sample ink, sample colors, my website template... as in all.  So right now I'm trying to recovered some file using recovery software.

If you have any suggestion that would be great...

First of all I want to thank all the people who bought the book and came to the event last Sunday Feb. 21.  For us artist is really a big accomplishment and all of the book sales will be going to charity.  So again thanks for the organizer, staff, national bookstore, anvil publications and all of the comicbook geeks too.  But if you miss the book it will be sold again in this coming summer KOMIKON at UP Diliman or in any National Bookstore branches.

So once again thanks for the artist who put there time and effort in the event and in the book also.  We hope we can do this again in the future.  Plus I met new faces in the comics industries and a fan a like.

Oh well back to the drawing table...

To be able to see many of these Influential Great Pinoy Artists of yesterday, today, and tomorrow – come together in one room for a historical charitable event – would have maybe remained a dream. But sometimes, and usually when we least expect it...

Hey Gang!

It's been a while I write my journal again.  And its been a busy month for me.  Lots of work and upcoming work too.  So anyway I want to thank the organizer who invited us on a small talk called "Balloons Speak": An Open Forum on Comics and Graphic Novels. So we want to thanks Elbert Or and Lorra Elena Angbue-Te for organizing the wonderful small talk about comics.  Plus the faculty heads and students of Ateneo de Manila University.

Plus also my friends and buddy who also in the talk like

well we hope we encourage those young kids about what we do in comics.

And Christmas is fast approaching too.  And I wish a happy and safe Christmas season for everyone.  So next stop New Year!!!!

Its been a rough week for me and my family.  Its start with my son was hospitalize due to 2 condition.  First he had an operation on his appendicitis.  Second he was diagnosis with Dengue virus. My son is just 11 years old. Good thing that right now he when well and his resting in our little home.  So its been a little nightmare for me and my wife.  I always told my self that this is always a test for every family.  So you must be ready and strong.  So anyway I post a 2 new commission from pencil by Dave Finch.

So I hope everybody is doing fine and enjoying life.  So that will be for now.

Hi there again...

Just uploaded another new set of inking that I did this a couple of weeks ago.  So I just also finished doing some ink sample on Image Comics "50 Girls 50" another new series by Frank Cho and Doug Murray.  I will uploaded that very soon but I can't do that at this point.  Due to the contest is not yet know who won it?  But according to Frank and Doug they will announce it on Baltimore Comic-Con (October 10-11, 2009).  So cross your fingers folks.

Anyway I'm also doing some commission at this point.  After I finished them I will upload it here.  And so looking for more commission if you guys or gals want to do commission ink with me.  Just give me a note.

THE MANYAK MEMBERS ASSOCIATION OF THE PHILIPPINES:

Well I'm really feel sad about my out come this year.  Last year I got lots and tons of job both in inking and in coloring.  For the past 6 months I don't have any regular comic book job and I only survived my self doing commission from different people.  Like my title said "Record Breaking" since I become a full time inker.  I never felt this depress and good thing that I have savings... but like everybody said saving won't last that long.

My record for didn't have any comic book job well for almost 3 months.  I can't remember that year.  But I also save my day by doing local comics and a little of indie(states)comics at that time.

But for this year it's like an EL NIÑO... Not like when I came back to comics around 2004 its like a huge storm came.  Its almost like I feel right now that I want to go back to my day job... But my problem is that I'm not young anymore and my age is almost over qualified.

Oh well like everybody said "that's life..."  Well I hope I get my bearing back and enjoy what I'm doing.

So that will be for now... Thanks for reading my journal.
